What is reegle

reegle is a one-stop-shop for high quality up-to-date information on clean energy policy, with a core objective of supporting the global advancement of energy efficiency and renewables. The website facilitates fast access to constantly updated information for politicians, project developers, companies, municipalities, banks, credit institutes and for all those interested in this issue.

reegle uses state of the art technology and derives its content from evaluated and preselected databases covering the following areas related to renewable energy and energy efficiency:

reegle is a joint project between the "Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership" (REEEP) and the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21). It is further supported by the Dutch Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM), the British Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany (BMU). The Actors Catalogue

A growing collection of institutions working on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The Actors Catalogue  is a directory of organisations involved in renewable energy and energy efficiency. It contains information on, and links to, more than 1300 initiatives, partnerships and organisations involved in renewable energy and energy efficiency. The Catalogue also includes information about the focus, geographical reach and projects of the various Actors.

The main objective of the Actors Catalogue is to provide relevant contacts for better information exchange and collaboration to all interested stakeholders and individuals. The catalogue therefore allows you to search very narrowly for institutions working in a specific country or sector.

The Search By Category

A unique browse - search environment

"Search by category" allows you to find information on specific sectors, countries and types of information. It makes available a full range of information related to renewable energy and energy efficiency including jurisdiction & laws, policies & measures, finance & investment, reports & analyses and latest news. This information is made available through a special categorisation system of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

About REEEP

The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) is a Public-Private Partnership launched at the Johannesburg World Summit in 2002. The REEEP aims to accelerate the global marketplace for energy effiency and renewable energy by actively facilitating financing mechanisms for sustainable energy projects and structuring policy initiatives for clean energy markets on the ground.

About REN21

The Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21) is a global policy network aimed at providing a forum for international leadership on renewable energy. Its goal is to allow the rapid expansion of renewable energies in developing and industrial countries by bolstering policy development and decision-making on sub-national, national and international levels.

Information Sources

The information provided on reegle is derived from three different sources: Existing databases of our knowledge partners, pre-selected key internet sources, and its own internal database.

Knowledge Partners:
Knowledge Partnerships have been established, with key information providers meaning that the respective organisations collaborate with the reegle team with regard to their information. These organisations are

- the World Bank
- the International Energy Agency (IEA)
- the World Energy Council (WEC)
- the European Council for Energy Efficient Economy (ECEEE)
- the Collaborative Labelling and Appliance Standards Program (CLASP) and
- the Energy Charter Secretariat.


Selected Internet sources: The reegle team evaluates and pre-selects important internet sources of the sector. The information from these sources is included into reegle and is updated constantly.

Internal Content: reegle also has it‘s own database, containing the Actors Catalogue as well as conference papers and key documents and articles. reegle users can contribute to this internal database by maintaining the information in the Actors Catalogue or suggesting new Actors or documents to be included.
