Mission

" The National Framework for Energy Efficiency (NFEE) aims to unlock the significant but un-tapped economic potential associated with the increased uptake of energy efficient technologies and processes across the Australian economy. It aims to achieve a major enhancement of Australia’s energy efficiency performance, reducing energy demand and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. NFEE covers a range of policy measures, designed to overcome the barriers and challenges that prevent the market delivering the actual economic potential of energy efficiency.
NFEE is being developed cooperatively with the involvement of all Australian government jurisdictions and key stakeholders."

Activities

The NFEE focuses on demand-side energy efficiency, primarily in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. It also considers energy use in energy conversion and addresses intermediaries who can influence energy efficiency choices, such as energy retailers, builders, financiers and appliance suppliers. Implementation Committees are responsible for the delivery of the Stage One implementation plans. NFEE Stage One includes ‘foundation’ measures to establish the building blocks of NFEE. It consists of nine integrated and inter-linked policy packages which extend, or further develop, a range of cost effective energy efficiency measures that are currently being implemented at a national or jurisdictional level. The energy efficiency policy packages included in NFEE Stage One cover: residential buildings; commercial buildings; commercial/industrial energy efficiency; government energy efficiency; appliance and equipment energy efficiency; trade and professional training and accreditation; commercial/industrial sector capacity building; general consumer awareness; and finance sector awareness.
