Mission

IPART is an independent body that oversees regulation in the water, gas, electricity and public transport industries in NSW.
 

Activities

IPART’s functions are to set maximum prices for monopoly services provided by government agencies in NSW (including water and public transport), to regulate revenues or prices of electricity networks under the National Electricity Code and electricity legislation, to regulate natural gas pricing and third party access to gas networks, to administer the licensing or authorisation of water, electricity and gas utilities, and to monitor these utilities' compliance with their licence or authorization, to register agreements for access to public infrastructure assets and arbitrate disputes about these agreements and to investigate complaints about competitive neutrality referred by the Government.
