Mission

The Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator is a statutory authority established to oversee the implementation of the Australian Government's mandatory renewable energy target.
 

Activities

The main responsibilities of the Office include: accrediting renewable energy generators to allow them to participate in the scheme; overseeing the creation of valid renewable energy certificates; assessing annual compliance statements; imposing any penalties for non-compliance with the provisions of the legislation; redeeming any renewable energy shortfall charges if shortfalls are made up within three years; and to ensure the integrity of the measure, undertaking audits of participants including renewable energy generators and liable parties.
