Mission

The WCRE is a global voice for Renewable Energies, communicating the urgent and global need for Renewable Energies and their availability for all energy demands, analysing the international barriers to Renewable Energies and preparing proposals to overcome these, documenting experience of initiatives for Renewable Energies and communicating best-practice examples world-wide, evaluating the advanced technological opportunities and applications of Renewable Energy Technologies.
 

Activities

The WCRE supports the creation of an International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), organises regularily a world meeting on the global energy supply, paying special attention to the political and economic mobilisation of Renewable Energy. The WCRE promotes and supports the organisation of conferences on Renewable Energies. Moreover WCRE shall publish a "World Renewable Energy Outlook". After the First International Parliamentary Forum on Renewable Energies in Bonn in 2004, the WCRE has established a World Renewable Energy Parliamentary Network (WREPN), uniting pro-active legislators for the mobilisation of Renewables.

    The World Council for Renewable Energy defends, develops, and promotes policies on the multinational, governmental, regional and individual levels in favour of the use of natural and renewable forms of energy to replace fossil and nuclear energy. Dr Hermann Scheer was the General Chairman of the Council. He died in October 2010.
