Mission
As a state-run institute in the field of clean energy engineering science, the institute's strategic task is to R&D new and renewable energy utilization technology, to find a solution to environmental pollution and energy conservation associated with conventional energy use, and to develop energy regeneration technology for environmental pollution abatement process. The institute is not only the Chinese liaison point of Southeast Asian & Pacific "Energy Network" of UNESCO, but also honored with the of best in China in the field of solar energy research. It owns a key laboratory of the Research Development & Application of New & Renewable Energy of Guangdong Province. Besides this, it also has a network on information of new & renewable energy technology & products around China. Presently, the institute is subdivided into 8 research groups: solar energy, clean energy, biomass energy, solid wastes energy, industrial energy conservation, geothermal energy & heat pump, water & air treatment, and heat chilling. A chief scientist heads each group.
