Our mission at the Carbon Reduction Fund is simple and straightforward. First, bring together a select group of organizations that are committed to taking action on climate change. Then, help these partners and their customers reduce the impacts of climate change by investing in offset projects right here in Canada.

The primary mission of the Carbon Reduction Fund is to be a dependable and ethical provider of high quality carbon offsets for the voluntary carbon offset market and in turn, deliver real, additional, permanent and substantive reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The Fund will supply high-quality offsets to a select group of progressive organizations that take responsibility for and take action on their carbon footprints, and that voluntarily commit to meaningful reductions of GHG emissions. Second, the Fund strives to be a catalyst in order to engage various organizations across Canada to develop GHG reduction projects.

Through project initiation activities and support, the Fund will help educate organizations and assist them in developing promising projects. Third, the CRF will take a leadership role in building the voluntary offset industry. In contrast to a mandatory carbon trading market, the voluntary carbon offset market depends entirely on goodwill and voluntary action, and is therefore dependent on the quality, integrity and legitimacy of carbon offsets.

Working collaboratively with other ethical players in the industry, the Fund will help build and maintain high industry standards in order to protect the credibility of voluntary offsets and increase the impact of voluntary action by individuals and organizations.
