Since its founding in 1999, Aiguasol has provided engineering and consulting services, promoting innovative solutions to reduce the environmental impact of energy consumption. Aiguasol exists under the legal form of a cooperative, which means its working and management structure is participatory and horizontal. Aiguasol is also clearly committed to social responsibility, innovation, training and quality.
Aiguasol services are exclusively focused on buildings and energy systems and is centered on studies, projects and research and development tasks with a high level of expertise and experience. Our work covers urban planning, building design, industrial processes and power generation, with an approach that takes into account energy planning, energy saving measures and energy efficiency, process integration and implementation of renewable energy.
The PMEB is proposed as a city plan where, once the current consumption tendencies are analyzed, the different public administrations implicated in energy management make a firm commitment to action, while also showing the need to have the participation of companies providing energy services and the important role that users have, both in the business sector and for individuals.
In the framework of the Barcelona Energy Improvement Plan, AIGUASOL was commissioned to evaluate the energy consumption in buildings, both residential and offices, and was able to evaluate up to 90% of the surfaces with this kind of typology in the city.

In 2005 AIGUASOL participated, as an energy consultant, in the final development of the Zorrotzaurre Master Plan (Bilbao). The Master Plan, which was originally designed by the Zaha Hadid Architects, included the remodeling and construction of housing, new industries, tertiary uses, urban zones and recreation areas and the new connections that unite the peninsula, the city and its surroundings.
AIGUASOL was commissioned to introduce vector energy in the preliminary design, studying open parameters: height and distance between buildings, orientation and use distribution in the new neighborhood. The goal was to reduce the energy impact of the complete project without yet dealing with the buildings or energy systems in detail.

Transol is a software for design, calculation and optimization of solar thermal systems, easy and intuitive, which makes available to the user the power and accuracy of TRNSYS dynamic calculation engine. This tool comes from an ambitious project carried out by Aiguasol in colaboration with the French research center CSTB (Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bātiment).
